Who are we?

We are a small Gap Year Company that provides Responsible travel around the world. If you want to do something productive with your time out and give back to the community then Gap Discovery is the organisation you are looking for. Our programmes range from Volunteering, Paid Work, Sports qualifications and adventure activities. If you are really keen then try them all in one of our tailor made trips!

Where are we based?

We are based in Brighton, the door is always open to visitors. Whether you are booking a programme, looking for advice or just want a cup of tea and a biscuit you are more than welcome to pop in with friends or parents! We also exhibit and present at many University and School shows across the year.

What do we offer?

Gap Discovery provides productive travel from 1 week to 1 year. Yes it is that simple! The team at Gap Discovery breaks it down into 3 sections:

  • Advice – One to one advice with a designated T.A (Travel Advisor) that will be your main point of contact for planning your whole trip. From deciding how many socks to pack in your rucksack through to insurance and vaccinations your own personal T.A will be there to help. All T.A’s are experienced travellers and want you to have an incredible time on you trip.Advice – One to one advice with a designated T.A (Travel Advisor) that will be your main port of contact for planning your whole trip.   • Programme – Once at your programme you will have 24 hour a day support in Country. We offer some of the best qualifications that look brilliant on you C.V.
  • Evaluation – We love hearing about how you got on and all the memorable moments. The team are always developing the programmes to a higher level so any feedback that you think would help us would be much appreciated.

Will I be safe with Gap Discovery?

Yes you and your money will be safe. Your safety is the most important aspect for us. All programmes have had a Risk assessment completed and passed by us. Any individual going away with us will also have to hold personal insurance which we can advise on and point you in the right direction. Clients funds are protected by The Travel Trust Association. Gap Discovery complies with the Package Travel Regulations Act, 1992 and holds Travel Trust Account U7882.

How long for?

It is up to you! Many of our travellers go for just 2 weeks (in the Easter holidays) and many travel for a year on a Round the World Ticket. From our experience the average time is 3-5 months visiting 2 or 3 countries. It is recommended that you research the Countries you are thinking of going to before you depart. The team at Gap Discovery have extensive knowledge of all over the World so please pick our brains!

How does the process work?

Have a search through the wide range of programmes that we have. Give us a ring, or we can ring you and discuss the programme in more detail. Secure your place on the programme for £145. Confirm your flight arrangements. Pay the outstanding balance 6 weeks before departure. There are no hidden costs. Then off you go!

Responsible Travel

Gap Discovery is an Ethical Company that believes in developing the communities where the programmes are based. A large percentage of what the traveller pays will go direct to the programme and help with developing the area to a higher level. Our Gap Discovery Trust also donates money to the programmes. Once the Traveller returns from their trip they can add money to the Trust to help secure the future for the programme they have been on.
